The Susan Harrison-Tustain School of Painting was born from the great demand for Susan’s skilful teaching. Each section is expressly designed and focused on you – the individual artist – meeting your specific needs, skill level and goals.

My dedicated six month (on-line) painting course and my One-on-One workshops (in my own studio) will help you move to the next level and beyond. Lifting your painting skill level, observations skills, understanding my easy-to-learn color revelations and teaching you how to analyze your own work will allow you to fine tune your work and achieve a greater joy from painting. Understanding ‘why’ my methods work – will not only help you with your current work and your Susan Harrison-Tustain School of Painting workshop work, but also in all of your future work too. I teach the skills, the process of deliberation, the methods and techniques and how to give your work the edge that will allow it stand out. My unique way of painting, my easy-to-understand color temperature and color mixing theories, the all important fine tuning and so much more will ensure you retain the information ‘tools’ that will help you break through the barriers that are holding you back or have you tentative to move forward.
Many artists come unstuck at a stage where they feel as if they have reached a plateau and they are not sure how to move forward from there. That is one of my specialist areas! Relax – you will be in good hands. It will be my pleasure to help you achieve paintings you are passionate to portray.
I currently offer the three areas of tuition mentioned above – all tailored to suit your needs and requirements.

One on One Workshops (one, two or three days of tuition in Susan’s studio):
Naturally the most in-depth tuition is a private One on One workshop in my studio. Artists travel from all over the world for these highly sought-after workshops. No matter what stage you are at – from beginner to advanced – these workshops are somewhat like opening a window and for the first time realizing your full potential. I love to see my artists feel as if they have found their wings and are soaring.
Naturally my One on One workshops are the creme de la creme of my teaching because I am there every step of the way from demonstrating, observing, helping you to really ‘see’ and analyse – and then of course I am there to show you how to capture the passion you feel – and translate it into paint.
My focus is on you and your work. There is nothing as immediate and effective as a One on One workshop. I observe you painting in the present and can instantly show you how slight changes in using your brush, the amount of water you pick up, how you apply your paint – along with so many other small but important things can make all the difference to your finished painting. Watching and learning as each of us paint, I analyze, guide and extend you so you can see how my methods allow you to achieve a professional edge and polish. Watch as your new-found skills reveal a delicate and yet deep, almost palpable ‘presence’ that can speak to the viewers of your work.

My On-line workshops encompass 3 painting studies over a six month course. These workshops are designed around your needs and preferences. Giving you plenty of time to complete each painting – these workshops focus on lifting your painting skills to the next level and beyond. Exposing you to the breakthroughs that will give you an in-depth understanding and sheer joy of watercolor painting.
Each study is purposefully designed to highlight specific points that will help you reach your goals.
This is individual tuition that is dedicated to give you a great insight and understanding of watercolor and how these methods and techniques can best be applied to your paintings – allowing them to speak to the viewers of your work through the masterful skills and revelations you will learn on this unique painting course.
On-Line Painting Critique (watercolor or oil):
Do you feel your painting is lacking something? Are you on a plateau and don’t know what you can do to lift your work to the next level and beyond? Would you like a professional critique that will help you to see and understand what you need to do to ‘rescue’ your painting or help you break through the barriers that are holding you back. I can give you the answers, the insight and the way to push passed those barriers that are holding you back.
